¡Hola! My name is Elisa Ruiz, and I am delighted to be joining The Cherry Hill School as the Spanish teacher this year.
As a native Spanish speaker, sharing the love for my language and culture has become my passion. I was born and raised in El Paso. I have been an educator for 30 years. I have a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Bilingual and Early Childhood Education from The University of Texas at El Paso. I have taught bilingual and dual language Kindergarten as well as 5th grade.
I love teaching Spanish and I try to bring much of my culture into the classroom as possible. My students will listen to music in Spanish in our class, learn about cultural differences and traditions, and have fun while learning a new language. I believe that a good education shapes not only minds but hearts as well. And that learning a different language and traditions, especially at an early age, can make students more culturally appreciative and incorporate that respect into their daily and future lives.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my three children, watching movies, and listening to music.
